TaylorMade R9 Driver (430cc) Review

TaylorMade R9 Driver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a handicap 12 golfer, and have a pretty good distance on my shots (290 - 300 off the tee), but rarely hit the fareways. I had always said that I was willing to sacrifice a bit of distance for accuracy on my shots. With my new R9, I have been able to control my shots and am hitting around 80% of my fairways, although I lost around 15 yards. I really don't mind loosing the distance, but with my new accuracy on the drive I only have to worry now of my fairway woods, irons and putt...he he he. Really, this club has really helped me improve my game. I used to play the TM R5. I have not moved the wieghts nor the shaft position (all neutral) and even so my game has improved.

Callaway FT Fairway Wood (Neutral) Review

Callaway FT Fairway Wood
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own two of these guys with graphite shafts: a 3 wood and a 5 wood.I've owned them for about a year and I can report that they're fantastic.Very well constructed, light, made of multipler materials.Of all my clubs, I have to say that my FT woods are probably the easiest to hit consistently.

If you're considering whether to use hybrids to replace woods - I would urge you to reconsider. For me at least, woods provide a very relaxed swing, almost a sweep vs the dig down of irons and I find them overall comfortable.

From a manly standpoint, nobody will look at your crosseyed if you bring out one of these FT woods to bear on the fairway -- pull out a hybrid and who knows what looks you'll get.

Yes, these are pricey but I think that these guys will be in your arsenal for a long time so an investment here will go a long way.

I prefer the neutral (it comes in a draw variety too) but overall, I'd rather work with a neutral wood and try to correct whatever I'm doing wrong rather than engineer the club around me, but that's a personal choice -- and you get quite a bit of customization available on these clubs.

Enjoy, you won't find a finer fairway than this.

Product Description:
Fueled by Fusion and feared by the fairway, the Callaway FT fairway wood delivers the utmost in performance and playability. The FT fairway wood represents the latest evolution of Fusion Technology, a multi-material process that gives Callaway Golf engineers the utmost freedom in design. Combining a stainless-steel face and body with a tungsten-infused sole plate, Fusion Technology allows Callaway Golf engineers to strategically place the center of gravity (CG) in the perfect spot, letting the club produce optimal ball flight trajectories and shot-shaping control. Callaway also added a dual-runner sole design, which offers a lower leading edge to make the sweet spot more accessible to players of various skill levels (the dual-runner design also interacts cleaner with the turf to produce more flushed shots). And golfers will love the traditionally styled stainless-steel hosel, which creates a level of performance and customization that appeals to everyone from relative beginners to low handicappers.

Callaway's high-performance FT fairway woods produce optimal ball flight trajectories.Callaway's Fusion Technology
Fusion Technology employs a philosophy called Complete Inertial Design (CID), in which Callaway engineers considered all of the club's characteristics collectively and created a design that balances those characteristics while optimizing performance. The key to CID is to avoid focusing on one characteristic at the expense of the club's overall performance. One major element of CID, for example, is to increase the stability of the clubhead, which is measured in terms of MOI. By raising the MOI on both the vertical and horizontal axes, and by positioning the weight to the perimeter of the clubhead, Callaway engineers were able to add stability to balls struck around the edges of the clubface. And because the clubhead rotates less during these swings, golfers lose less ball speed--helping the ball travel longer distances--and the ball goes straighter on off-center hits.
In addition, Callaway included an OptiFit Weighting System in the FT fairway wood, letting golfers choose a club that suits their specific swings by offering three center of gravity (CG) locations in most lofts: draw, to promote a draw or reduce a slice/fade; neutral, for maximum workability; or fade, to promote a fade or reduce a hook/draw. For example, if you naturally leave the clubface open at impact and hit a fade or slice, the draw-weighting configuration will create corrective spin to counteract that flaw. The result is straighter and longer shots. In the process, Callaway still preserves the playability benefits of S2H2 and Tru-Bore technologies. S2H2 is a patented design that shortens the length of the hosel, allowing the weight to move lower and to the more useful perimeter weight of the clubhead. Callaway further improved the design by allowing the shaft tip to extend through the hosel and clubhead to the sole. This bore-through design improves the feel and control of the club, helping you swing with confidence every round.

Callaway's Fusion Technology increases the moment of inertia (MOI) and places the center of gravity (CG) at the perfect spot to produce longer, straighter shots.
About the FT Fairway Wood
Callaway sells a series of FT fairway woods, including 3-, 4-, 5-, 7-, and 9-woods. The lofts range from 15 degrees (3-wood) to 23 degrees (9-wood), with shaft options that include stiff, regular, senior, and uniflex. A true weapon on the tee box!And when you connect the ball right...you know it!I know there are other r7 clubs which are more expensive but I could not see how they could be worth the extra dollars. This club is light as a feather and a lot of fun.

Click Here to see more reviews about: TaylorMade R7 Graphite Quad HT Driver (Men's, Right-Handed)

Product Description:
The TaylorMade Men's r7 Quad HT Titanium Driver is a milestone in driver technology.Although this is only one driver, it is equipped with six center of gravity (CG) locations, six sets of launch conditions, and six trajectories. Built with TaylorMade Launch Control (TLC), the r7 Quad gives you the freedom to change the launch angle and spin rate to the maximize distance, control, and accuracy of your tee shots.
Designed as the first driver to scientifically adapt to your swing, the r7 could actually "cure" your slice or hook.Toss in TaylorMade's Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) and you'll not only drive the ball straighter, but longer--you'll get the maximum distance possible for your individual swing. And like other TaylorMade drivers, the r7 clubhead is built using "Pull-Face" construction that allows TaylorMade to offer an exceptionally strong titanium for an exceedingly fast, flexible, and light clubface that bumps right up against the USGA's coefficient of restitution (COR) limit. Not everyone can hit the ball clean with each swing.TaylorMade knows this and has designed the r7 to expand the club's COR and produce greater ball velocity on off-center hits, resulting in consistently longer drives.
This deep-faced, 400cc titanium driver delivers a higher launch angle and a lower spin-rate.The perimeter-positioned TLC ports contribute to ultra-high moment of inertia (MOI) for outstanding forgiveness.Other features include super-thin wall technology for 20-percent thinner clubhead walls that save more than 40 grams of weight, and four TLC cartridges (two two-gram and two 10-gram) for maximum versatility.
This right-handed driver is available with a 9.5-, 10.5-, or 11.5-degree loft and a stiff or regular flex shaft.
What is the Coefficient of Restitution (COR)?
The Coefficient of Restitution, referred to as COR in golf circles, is a measurement of the clubface's ability to rebound the ball, expressed as a percentage that is determined by a ball's speed off the clubhead divided by the speed at which it struck the clubhead. The crept into popular golf vernacular with the rise of ultra-thin-faced drivers. An effect of thin faces is known as the "spring-like effect" or "trampoline effect"--the face of the driver depresses as the ball is struck, then rebounds. This provides adds a little extra power to the shot, and a driver that exhibits this property will have a very high COR.Of course, the USGA has imposed maximum CORs to level the "spring-like effect" playing field. For a club to be allowed under USGA rules, it must have a maximum COR of 0.830.
What's in the Box?
TaylorMade r7 Quad HT driver, TLC torque wrench, pouch, head cover, trajectory wheel, and owner's manual.

This is the first expensive driver I ever bought and believe me I picked the right one.I found it at the Bass Pro Shop (they have a golf dept inside) on sale for $229.99.That's $70. cheap than anywhere else I've been.I bought it without even trying it out, which could have been a mistake. The next day I went to the driving range and tried it out.I had to hit off regular size tees because I left the large size tees I bought at home.I was a little disappointed until I found a large tee on the ground next to were I was hitting. From then on all my drives were long and straight..mostly around 230-275 yards. For me that is l-o-n-n-g...

Launcher Titanium 460cc DriverThe Launcher 460 has been a favorite among mid-high handicappers, but don't forget that it was also used by Shaun Micheel to win the 2003 PGA Championship.New technology from Cleveland Golf has made it possible for golf clubs to be more effective and powerful than ever before. The Launcher 460 produces a higher launch angle with lower backspin for more carry and increased roll, and also offers an increased moment of inertia, reducing the amount of lost distance on off-center hits. The rules of golf dictate that a driver face can only offer a certain amount of spring-like effect (known as the Coefficient of Restitution or C.O.R.). The USGA has officially ruled that the maximum amount of C.O.R. allowed in a golf club is .830. The New Launcher 460 precisely meets this legal limit, allowing you to post all of your scores. You'll be able to put this club into play in any tournament at any golf course and feel confident that you're getting the distance, great feel and accuracy ofthe most technologically advanced club in the game.

I loved the driver, however the shaft was poorly made.I used the club once at the range and then went the next day to play. The shaft broke on my backswing two inches from the grip on the eighth hole.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Cleveland Launcher Driver

Product Description:
Tradition and technology combine in the Cleveland Launcher Driver to produce the longest and straightest Launcher that Cleveland Golf has ever produced. The Launcher's penetrating ball flight has a traditional look to fit the player's eye as well as to enhance carry distance. Boasting a low spin head design, a mid-trajectory, and high MOI, the Launcher Driver offers a long straight shot even on mis-hits with a 21 percent larger face than the original Launcher 460 or Launcher Comp. The longer, lighter Fujikura Fit-On Flightspeed shafts also lead to higher swing speeds and additional yardage for the most powerful Launcher Driver to date.
Ideal Tone:
In the Launcher Driver, the Cleveland engineers specifically targeted the optimal tone at impact to produce an ideal sound. While the Launcher is solid and forceful, it creates a more traditional, ear-pleasing pitch that is not overpowering.
Fujikura Fit-On Flightspeed Shaft:
Fujikura designers utilized a multi-layered combination of high modulus carbon fiber materials to remove weight from the tip of the shaft without reducing stiffness. The result is a lightweight shaft with a high-balance point that increases both swing speed and ball speed for added distance.
Thin Crown Technology:
At only a half millimeter in thickness, the new Launcher crown is the thinnest possible, moving every bit of potential weight low and deep to improve the center of gravity, optimize launch conditions, and maximize distance.
Horseshoe Perimeter Sole Weighting:
The horseshoe-shaped weight pad on the rear perimeter of the sole significantly improves launch conditions and stability on mis-hits by localizing weight low and deep, improving both MOI and center of gravity location.

I'm a 28 hcp and need to scream this out there...this is the best driver ever!

The 4th time that I used it was this last weekend in a local course tournament; I won the Longest Drive contest hitting with this baby a 371 yds. shot right in the middle of a narrow fairway! with the prices I received I covered not only the tournament fee but the driver's cost, the rest of my clubs and even the drinks I invited to my colleagues.

You will not find a better option considering quality, price, look, feel and sound.

If you are just like most people and hesitate about going after an "unknown" brand like HiPPO, try to put your hands on a trial one and hit a couple balls with it, I bet you'll change your mind.

Cheers!

TaylorMade Men's Burner 460 Ti Driver Review

TaylorMade Men's Burner 460 Ti Driver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Taylormade's Burner 460 Ti Driver features a distinctive oval shaped head specially designed to create a deep center of gravity and a high moment of inertia for a higher launch angle. Its 460cc club head matches the limits the PGA tour set on club head size. Its extra long and light shaft is designed to increase club head speed.

I was initially excited when I heard Taylormade was bringing back their Burner series. I switched from the Titleist 983k to the Burner with the hopes of increasing my distance off the tee. I purchased the 8.5 degree with the stiff Fujikura shaft. I saw no change in distance, but rather experienced a much higher ball flight. I used the club for a month and then determined that the extraordinarily high ball flight hurt my game more than it helped. For this reason, I gave my club to my dad and he had it reshafted to a regular Fujikura. My dad, a low ball hitter, saw a much higher trajectory accompanied by a tremendous increase in distance and is currently very satisfied with the club.

Overall, the club is designed for the higher handicapped golfer. It has a large sweet spot and its misses are not as drastic. Control of the club, however, is an issue. Its weight and moment of inertia are not suitable for a highball hitter like myself. This driver is a definite buy for a low ball hitter seeking more distance. However, you should not buy this club if you already have a high trajectory.

Product Description:
TaylorMade continues its long-running standard of excellence with the men's Burner 460 Ti driver. The driver is distinguished by the company's SuperFast technology, which reduces the total club weight to 299 grams from an average of 320, thereby promoting a faster swing speed and more drive-crushing distance. By building a driver that players can swing faster--and that delivers a higher average ball speed on mis-hits--TaylorMade has increased a player's distance significantly from shot to shot, making it more fun than ever to bomb it off the tee. The driver's advanced bullet-shaped clubhead, meanwhile, incorporates a far-back CG location to launch the ball high and super deep.Although the bullet shape looks sleek and slippery, the actual aerodynamics don't affect clubhead speed. However, because the Burner looks fast, golfers gain the confidence to believe that they can, in fact, build faster clubhead speed during the swing. Add in Fujikura's SuperFast RE*AX 50-gram shaft--which is exceptionally lightweight and stable to promote greater distance and accuracy--and you have an ideal driver for virtually any course. The Burner's combination of a large head, sleek shape, longer length, and lighter swing weight work together to make this the fastest driver TaylorMade has ever created in terms of potential clubhead speed and ball speed.
Other details include TaylorMade's inverted Cone Technology, which produces a highly effective Moment of Inertia (MOI) that exceeds 5,800 yet still conforms to USGA standards; a massive 460cc clubhead; an extra-sturdy titanium body and face construction; and a 46-inch club length.
Specifications:

    Head Size: 460cc
    Lie Angle: 59°
    Face Angle loft/closure: 9.5 = 1°, 10.5 = 1.5°
Face Material: Titanium face featuring ICT and PFC
    Body Material: 6-4 Titanium
    Construction: 2-piece construction with PFC
    Club Length: 46"
    Club Swing Weight: D5
Shaft Properties: RE*AX SuperFast 50 by Fujikura

When creating the Hyper X, Callaway Golf engineers set out looking for breakthrough ball-speed enhancements that would set a new standard in the crowded all-titanium driver market. The result was Hyperbolic Face Technology, which redefined the look, feel, and speed at which golf balls leave the clubface. Eight years in the making, clubs outfitted with Hyperbolic Face Technology offer a more robust face than traditional clubs, dramatically increasing the impact efficiency and boosting the distance on shots hit across the entire face. With the Hyper X in hand, golfers can hit long and straight drives off the tee, giving you a serious advantage on long par 4s and 5s. The Hyper X also boasts a 460cc head shape that's been optimized for a high moment of inertia (MOI), generating increased forgiveness and stability on mis-hits. And thanks to the Modified X-Sole design--which aids the alignment at address--your drives will start on the intended target line.
Other features include S2H2 technology, which shifts the discretionary weight from the hosel to the perimeter of the clubhead for added distance; an advanced Fujikura shaft that adds to the driver's feel and performance; and a classic driver look.

Callaway Diablo Edge Men's Golf Driver Review

Callaway Diablo Edge Men's Golf Driver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this driver with the intent to resell it for a little profit(Dicks was having a double-your-trade-in deal). I'm a 15-16 handicap, and was previously hitting a Titelist 907D2. I hit off the tee with a slight natural draw, but mostly straight. However, when I miss, it's always to the right (slice). I was never a real believer in buying new equipment to help your golf game. Fix the swing, not the club, right?

Just for kicks, I put this in my bag for a few rounds, and let's just say it's been in there for 3 months now. This club helps IMMENSELY with off center hits. There are times I know I'm barely grabbing a piece of the ball with the toe, or clipping it with the heel. The club still manages to shrug it off and get the ball moving forward. My bad slices have turned more into fades, as in, they're not in the rough and under the trees, but right on the edge of the fairway. I'm not saying this club is a miracle worker. I can still manage to let a nasty shot loose, but for those XX% of shots, that are just so close to being playable 2nd shots after your drive, this club does everything in its power to make sure you have that clear 2nd shot.

The stock shaft is suprisingly not sucky. Aldila Harbenero (sp?).My Tileist was shafted with an Aldila DVS, which I liked. This shaft has similar flight characteristics, so it suits me. Ball launch is mid-high for me.

Overall distance has greatly improved. The face of this club is what I believe people call "hot". If you manage to hit dead center, you can literally feel the ball compressing into the face of the club, and in turn, the face exploding during the release. Previous avg. driving distance IN THE AIR was around 240, with roll around 260. With the Diable Edge, I'm average 250-260yd air, with roll 280-290. I've blasted my first 300+ yd drives with this club as well. Feels weird making a 70 yd pitch up to the green on a 380 yd par 4.

Sounds great too. Not obnoxious like a lot of the game improvement clubs out there (FtIq, monster XLS, Nike Sumos, etc.). Why the 4 stars? It DOES have a weird little triangle shape at the back side, so it's not a true "pear" shape. Overall, it is quite large, although It's probably because I'm used to playing a 907D2. Honestly, I don't even notice it anymore, and the payoff is more then worth it. Although, some purists and snobs might dismiss the club entirely just for that fact.

Product Description:
Taking top honors in Golf Digest's 2010 Hot List, this standard version of the Callaway Diablo Edge Driver offers superior face technology, a higher MOI, a deeper CG, and better aerodynamics--all adding up to the longest, most accurate all-titanium driver Callaway has made yet. It features a unique construction that fuses four titanium elements together for optimal weight efficiency and longer ball flight, and improved aerodynamics for reduced drag in the down swing. It's complemented by an Adela Habanero high-performance graphite shaft, which provides incredible feel and performance.

Callaway's standard version of the Diablo Edge Driver. Standard vs. Tour Models
Diablo Edge Drivers feature two unique shapes, but all the same technology. Both drivers offer a 4-piece fused titanium design, a chemically milled hyperbolic face cup, and an aerodynamic body shape.

The standard model features a core Callaway technology (S2H2), which removes weight from the hosel and repositions it in the perimeter of the golf club for more stability.
The Tour model has a full-length hosel, less face progression and an optimized center of gravity that provides the look, feel and performance highly skilled golfers demand.

Callaway Core Technology: S2H2
Callaway's patented Short, Straight, Hollow, Hosel (S2H2) shortened the length of the hosel, allowing weight to be moved lower and to the more useful perimeter area of the clubhead. This bore-through design (Modified Tru-Bore Technology) allows the shaft tip to extend through the hosel and clubhead to the sole, improving feel and control by moving the tip of the shaft closer to the center of the clubface.

4-piece Fused Titanium Design
The use of Fused Titanium in a 4-piece modular design produces the most weight efficient all titanium driver Callaway's ever created. Each part is precision-formed and accurately fused together, allowing weight to be positioned optimally, delivering distance-enhancing, penetrating ball flight.
Chemically Milled Hyperbolic Face Cup
An acid chemical reduction process selectively removes unwanted material from the face cup for precision thickness control, resulting in our most consistently high ball speeds ever. And the strategic hyperbolic shaping of the face thickness dramatically improves impact efficiency and produces a larger effective hitting area--resulting in less disparity between the balls you hit in the center of the clubface and the balls you don't.

The sweet spot on a Callaway club with Hyperbolic Face Technology on the left, and a traditionally faced club on the right.
Compared to standard clubs, ball speed on off-center impacts from this club with Hyperbolic Face Technology will be noticeably greater. This contributes significantly to total distance on off-center hits.
Aerodynamic Body Design
Callaway reduced drag in the downswing for higher impact speeds by using an aerodynamic body design that refines and optimizes all edge transitions. This reduces drag up to 8 percent versus other 460cc driver heads.
