TaylorMade R9 Driver (430cc) Review

TaylorMade R9 Driver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a handicap 12 golfer, and have a pretty good distance on my shots (290 - 300 off the tee), but rarely hit the fareways. I had always said that I was willing to sacrifice a bit of distance for accuracy on my shots. With my new R9, I have been able to control my shots and am hitting around 80% of my fairways, although I lost around 15 yards. I really don't mind loosing the distance, but with my new accuracy on the drive I only have to worry now of my fairway woods, irons and putt...he he he. Really, this club has really helped me improve my game. I used to play the TM R5. I have not moved the wieghts nor the shaft position (all neutral) and even so my game has improved.

A true weapon on the tee box!And when you connect the ball right...you know it!I know there are other r7 clubs which are more expensive but I could not see how they could be worth the extra dollars. This club is light as a feather and a lot of fun.

Product Description:
The TaylorMade Men's r7 Quad HT Titanium Driver is a milestone in driver technology.Although this is only one driver, it is equipped with six center of gravity (CG) locations, six sets of launch conditions, and six trajectories. Built with TaylorMade Launch Control (TLC), the r7 Quad gives you the freedom to change the launch angle and spin rate to the maximize distance, control, and accuracy of your tee shots.
Designed as the first driver to scientifically adapt to your swing, the r7 could actually "cure" your slice or hook.Toss in TaylorMade's Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) and you'll not only drive the ball straighter, but longer--you'll get the maximum distance possible for your individual swing. And like other TaylorMade drivers, the r7 clubhead is built using "Pull-Face" construction that allows TaylorMade to offer an exceptionally strong titanium for an exceedingly fast, flexible, and light clubface that bumps right up against the USGA's coefficient of restitution (COR) limit. Not everyone can hit the ball clean with each swing.TaylorMade knows this and has designed the r7 to expand the club's COR and produce greater ball velocity on off-center hits, resulting in consistently longer drives.
This deep-faced, 400cc titanium driver delivers a higher launch angle and a lower spin-rate.The perimeter-positioned TLC ports contribute to ultra-high moment of inertia (MOI) for outstanding forgiveness.Other features include super-thin wall technology for 20-percent thinner clubhead walls that save more than 40 grams of weight, and four TLC cartridges (two two-gram and two 10-gram) for maximum versatility.
This right-handed driver is available with a 9.5-, 10.5-, or 11.5-degree loft and a stiff or regular flex shaft.
What is the Coefficient of Restitution (COR)?
The Coefficient of Restitution, referred to as COR in golf circles, is a measurement of the clubface's ability to rebound the ball, expressed as a percentage that is determined by a ball's speed off the clubhead divided by the speed at which it struck the clubhead. The crept into popular golf vernacular with the rise of ultra-thin-faced drivers. An effect of thin faces is known as the "spring-like effect" or "trampoline effect"--the face of the driver depresses as the ball is struck, then rebounds. This provides adds a little extra power to the shot, and a driver that exhibits this property will have a very high COR.Of course, the USGA has imposed maximum CORs to level the "spring-like effect" playing field. For a club to be allowed under USGA rules, it must have a maximum COR of 0.830.
What's in the Box?
TaylorMade r7 Quad HT driver, TLC torque wrench, pouch, head cover, trajectory wheel, and owner's manual.

TaylorMade Men's Burner 460 Ti Driver Review

TaylorMade Men's Burner 460 Ti Driver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Taylormade's Burner 460 Ti Driver features a distinctive oval shaped head specially designed to create a deep center of gravity and a high moment of inertia for a higher launch angle. Its 460cc club head matches the limits the PGA tour set on club head size. Its extra long and light shaft is designed to increase club head speed.

I was initially excited when I heard Taylormade was bringing back their Burner series. I switched from the Titleist 983k to the Burner with the hopes of increasing my distance off the tee. I purchased the 8.5 degree with the stiff Fujikura shaft. I saw no change in distance, but rather experienced a much higher ball flight. I used the club for a month and then determined that the extraordinarily high ball flight hurt my game more than it helped. For this reason, I gave my club to my dad and he had it reshafted to a regular Fujikura. My dad, a low ball hitter, saw a much higher trajectory accompanied by a tremendous increase in distance and is currently very satisfied with the club.

Overall, the club is designed for the higher handicapped golfer. It has a large sweet spot and its misses are not as drastic. Control of the club, however, is an issue. Its weight and moment of inertia are not suitable for a highball hitter like myself. This driver is a definite buy for a low ball hitter seeking more distance. However, you should not buy this club if you already have a high trajectory.

Product Description:
TaylorMade continues its long-running standard of excellence with the men's Burner 460 Ti driver. The driver is distinguished by the company's SuperFast technology, which reduces the total club weight to 299 grams from an average of 320, thereby promoting a faster swing speed and more drive-crushing distance. By building a driver that players can swing faster--and that delivers a higher average ball speed on mis-hits--TaylorMade has increased a player's distance significantly from shot to shot, making it more fun than ever to bomb it off the tee. The driver's advanced bullet-shaped clubhead, meanwhile, incorporates a far-back CG location to launch the ball high and super deep.Although the bullet shape looks sleek and slippery, the actual aerodynamics don't affect clubhead speed. However, because the Burner looks fast, golfers gain the confidence to believe that they can, in fact, build faster clubhead speed during the swing. Add in Fujikura's SuperFast RE*AX 50-gram shaft--which is exceptionally lightweight and stable to promote greater distance and accuracy--and you have an ideal driver for virtually any course. The Burner's combination of a large head, sleek shape, longer length, and lighter swing weight work together to make this the fastest driver TaylorMade has ever created in terms of potential clubhead speed and ball speed.
Other details include TaylorMade's inverted Cone Technology, which produces a highly effective Moment of Inertia (MOI) that exceeds 5,800 yet still conforms to USGA standards; a massive 460cc clubhead; an extra-sturdy titanium body and face construction; and a 46-inch club length.
